2023 AFCON: Sanwo-Olu urges Super Eagles to make Nigeria proud

Lagos State governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has urged the Super Eagles to make Nigeria proud by winning the trophy at the 2023 African Cup of Nations (AFCON).
Sanwo-Olu, who was the chief host of a special dinner organised for the Super Eagles at the Lagos State Government House on Tuesday, charged the team to brave all odds to achieve success at the tournament.

“It was an honour to host the Super Eagles this evening at the Lagos State/NFF Send Forth event as they gear up for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations,” he wrote on X.
“My prayers are with our team for strength, resilience and unity on this journey.
“To the Super Eagles: You carry the hopes of a nation on your shoulders. As you represent us at the #AFCON2023, may you play with passion, unity, and determination. Make Nigeria proud and bring the cup home. Let’s soar, Super Eagles!”
Also in attendance at the dinner was the Sports Development Minister, Senator John Owan Enoh who was the co-host of the glamour event.
The Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) President Ibrahim Musa Gusau was the host, with top officials of the Lagos State government and a couple of parliamentarians also gracing the occasion.
Also in attendance were the NFF Executive Committee members, representatives of NFF’s corporate partners and sponsors, members of NFF Management, Chairman and Board of the Lagos State Football Association.
The Nigerian contingent to the 2023 AFCON will depart Lagos on Wednesday for the 80-minute flight to Abidjan.
Abidjan is where the Super Eagles will compete in Group A against host nation, Cote d’Ivoire, Equatorial Guinea and Guinea Bissau.
