The Adamawa Fire Service has saved property worth over N2 billion during several fire incidents in the State last year.
Adamu Abdullahi, the Director of the State Fire Service, disclosed this on Monday in Yola.
Speaking during an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria, Abdullahi said that property worth about N3 million were lost to 133 fire incidents during the period under review.

He told NAN that the State Fire Directorate, similarly in 2023, recorded loss of 10 lives during a boat mishap rescue operation in three local government areas of Future, Yola and Numan, respectively.
He said: “For boat mishaps, we also rescued 17 passengers.
“The directorate is doing its best to sensitise the public and is always ready to respond to emergency situations.”
Abdullahi, however, said lack of modern fire fighting equipment, chemicals, fire hydrant, adequate power and utility van, were hindering quick response to emergency situations.
He advised the general public to always endeavour to switch off electrical appliances when not in use to avoid fire outbreak.
“Especially now we are in harmattan period, we should also be careful because all places are dry; fire can ignite easily and stop indiscriminate bush burning,” he said.
