Breaking: Ibadan: The Eagle Online discovers source of explosion + Photos, videos

The Eagle Online has discovered the source of the explosion that rocked Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.
The explosion, which occurred at about 8pm on Tuesday, has been confirmed by the Oyo State Government.
Sources confirmed the source of the explosion to The Eagle Online.
Photographs obtained by The Eagle Online confirmed that the explosion occurred inside Oyelese Estate in Bodija.
According to the sources, the source of the explosion has been traced to somewhere off Dejo Avenue, where a massive hole was spotted.
The Eagle Online Correspondent who is at present at the scene is reporting that an object that was suspected to be an aircraft had flown over some buildings, including Davis Hotel, shortly before the explosion was heard.
However, at Oyelese Estate, a huge hole was observed where the flying object, suspected to be a missile, landed.
Close to the scene were vehicles affected by the impact of the explosion.
Some of them were thrown into the air, with one of the vehicles landing on another.
The Eagle Online Correspondent reported: “We saw something fly over the hotel and crash in the estate.
“Initially, we thought it was a plane, but it wasn’t.
“It was more like a missile because there was a gaping hole in the ground.”
Speaking on the development, the Oyo State Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Dotun Oyelade, said the government was on top of the situation.
Oyelade said the state Governor, Seyi Makinde, has reached out to the Service Chiefs for a thorough investigation of the explosion.
He said: “Residents of Ibadan and immediate environ experienced an uncommon explosion about 8pm this evening.

“There are various interpretations of the incident but it is important for us to state categorically that the state government has taken over and in the full control of the unfortunate occurrence in in order to mitigate the incident.
“All security service chiefs including para military chiefs and Fire Operatives have been deployed by the governor to Reign in the spillover from the explosion.
“His Excellency Governor Seyi Makinde therefore implores citizens to calm down and be rest assured that their interests are being looked after.”
The Eagle Online was told that as press time, the Explosive Ordinance Department of the Oyo State Police Command had taken over the street where the explosion occurred.

So also are there other security agencies present at the scene as at press time.
As reported earlier by The Eagle Online, a shopping mall in Bodija, Ace Mall, collapsed from the impact of the explosion.
Major damages were also recorded at Davis Hotel and University College Hospital.
A video seen by The Eagle Online showed some casualties being taken away in a van.
