The Supreme Court has faulted the rulings of lower Tribunal and Appellate Court on Kano Governorship election.
The apex Court subsequently upheld Governor Abba Yusuf’s victory.
The two Courts had previously upturned Governor Abba Yusuf, based on irregularities, ranging from over voting to wrong nomination.

The apex Court five-member in its ruling on Friday held that the Tribunal and the Court of appeal erred by sacking Governor Yusuf.
Yusuf was elected under the platform of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP).
Governor Yusuf scored 1,019,602 votes to defeat Yusuf Gawuna of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who polled 890,705 votes.
The Tribunal however deducted 165,663 votes from the 1,019,602 recorded for Yusuf because the ballot papers were not stamped, signed and dated as required by the Electoral Act.
Justice John Inyang Okoro of the Supreme Court held that it must be proven that a ballot paper was not the ones deployed for the conduct of the election.
“There is no proof that the said ballot papers were not the one used at the election. Thus the decision of the Ciurt of Appeal affirming the decision of yhe tribunal ought to be set aside,” Justice Okoro says.
“Finally, the lower court wrongly misconstrued its evaluation of the ballot papers. This amounts to perversion.Accordingly, all the ballot papers are restored”.
