A Federal High Court in Ibadan, has remanded two suspected hostage takers, in Agodi correctional centre, pending ruling on their bail application.
The accused are: Aliyu Muhammadu and Idris Umar.
The Presiding Judge, Justice E.U. Akpan, gave the order, remanding the duo after they had pleaded not guilty to the two-count charge of hostage taking and highway robbery.
Akpan subsequently adjourned the suit till February 26 and February 27 for hearing on the bail application and commencement of trial.
Earlier, the Prosecution Counsel, Aderonke Imama, had informed the court that the duo committed the offences on March 23, 2023 at Iganna in Iwajowa Local Government Area of Oyo State.
Imama said that Muhammadu and Umar, with others now at large, participated in the abduction of a man whose name was deliberately protected for security reason, in Iganna town.

She further stated that the defendants were also caught in possession of two single barrel guns without licence.
The prosecution counsel said that the offences contravened Section 24 of Terrorism Prevention and Prohibition Act, 2022.
