Managing Director of the Global Shea Alliance (GSA), Aron Adu, said an impressive $22.7 million investment has been facilitated into the country from the Global Shea Alliance in five years.
Adu also stated that no less than 116,622 Nigerian Women collectors and processors under the GSA Sustainability Programme were empowered, while ensuring a sustainable growth of the Shea industry.
He stated this, yesterday, at a media launch of the 2024 Annual Shea Conference, organised by the esteemed Global Shea Alliance.
The conference was tagged, ‘Bridging the Gap’.
Adu who was represented by the GSA Business Development Manager and Project lead, Cornelius Kakrabah, explained that GSA would hire more Nigerians as the year progresses.
He explained that 5,065 hectares of Shea Park lands have been protected, while 266,598 Shea and non-shea trees have been planted.
“Everyone recognises the increasing global demand for Shea products and the need for our industry to evolve sustainably.
“The theme ‘Bridging the Gap’ signifies our commitment to addressing the challenges that hinder our progress and finding innovative solutions that promote sustainability, foster collaboration and empower women throughout the Shea value chain,” he said.
