Ondo Assembly acknowledges receipt of Aiyedatiwa’s request to screen Deputy 

The Ondo State House of Assembly has confirmed receipt of a letter from Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa requesting it to screen Dr Olayide Adelami, as nominee for the Deputy Governor.

The position of Deputy Governor became vacant, following his swearing in as the Governor.

Aiyedatiwa became Governor, following the passing of the immediate past Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu December. 27, 2023. 

A statement made available to journalists on Wednesday in Akure by Olatunji  Oshati, the Chairman, House Committee on Information, said that the Governor’s letter was received by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Olamide Oladiji.

The statement said that the Governor’s request was in line with the provision of Section 191(3) B and C of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as amended.

It said that Adelami, who hails from Owo in Owo Local Government Area of the state, is expected to appear before the House on Thursday for screening.

The Deputy Governor nominee was a former Deputy Clerk of the National Assembly until his retirement in April 2018.

He was also a Governorship aspirant and contested in the All Progressives Congress (APC) primaries in 2020 against the late Governor Akeredolu .
