Security operatives nab suspects over theft in NAN Headquarters

Security operatives attached to the Headquarters of the News Agency of Nigeria Abuja have arrested three suspects over recurring theft of facilities belonging to the agency.

Chief Security Officer of NAN, Aliyu Abubakar, made the development known to newsmen on Friday in Abuja.

The CSO said the suspects were arrested in a makeshift structure during search for the items.

He said two suspects were apprehended while two others escaped.

Abubakar added that the principal suspect was later arrested after the two suspects disclosed his identity.

According to him, during interrogation, the two admitted knowing the container where all stolen items within Abuja Central Area were being kept.

He said: “It was based on this that the security men followed the suspects to the container where two stolen pumping machines belonging to the agency were recovered.

“There have been several thefts of items in the agency, including air conditioners and armoured cables by the hoodlums.

“We have reached out to the FCTA Secretariat to help dislodge the hoodlums who have made the general area unsafe for some time.”

Abubakar said the three suspects are with the police for further interrogation and appropriate action.
