An Inspector of Police, Adeyemi Oduoye, has written a book on the Nigeria Police.
The book, titled: “Nigeria Police Force: A Beginners Hand Book,” stemmed from his 16 years experience in the force.
Oduoye, who is serving in Squadron 16 of the Police Mobile Force in Kontagora, Niger State, spoke in the book about the history of Nigeria Police, reasons people join the force and how the government at all levels had been unfair in their treatment of the issues affecting the Nigeria Police.
In this book, an attempt is made to enlighten the public on how close the relationship between police and the public, which they serve, ought to be; the challenges faced by police officers in the course of carrying out their duty; and the benefits of integrity.
It also opens the reader to some of the inner working mechanisms of the police force.
Oduoye said: “The ongoing police reform is long overdue, and I see it as a step in the right direction.
“I pray it becomes a continuous process so as to enable a better policing system of an ever evolving and dynamic society like ours.
“This little exposure will bridge a gap in helping and understanding that policing is a collective responsibility.
