The second edition of the FCV Gladiator Football Camp will begin at Grange School Lagos on April 1 and end on April 5 with top coach from the United Kingdom on hand for the exercise.
According to the organisers of the camp, Dynaspro Promotions Limited, who are collaborating with UK-based FCV International Academy, the top coaches have arrived in the country of Monday’s opening of the programme.
Dynaspro Promotions said the camp is aimed at unearthing talents with four outstanding students expected to be awarded scholarships by the organisers.
The organisers said that the Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC) is expected to be part of the one-week camp to tutor participants on Olympic Values Education Programme (OVEP) based on the Olympic philosophy that learning helps the balanced development of body and mind.
Ex-Super Eagles star, Mutiu Adepoju and ace sportscaster, Deji Omotoyinbo, will act as mentors, while the three top UK coaches, led by former Leicester City defender, Grant Brown, will take charge of proceedings at the camp.
Head of Marketing at FCV International Academy, Sam Nicholls, said the camp would be unique as it would provide participants opportunity to receive elite level coaching from experienced coaches and former professional footballers in England.
He added: “Nigerian students participating at the camp will get the opportunity to develop their football skills and techniques under the guidance of our UEFA qualified coaches, as well as gain tactical knowledge and awareness that will allow them to take their game to the next level.”
He acknowledged Nigerian football culture, when he said: “We know that Nigeria has a fantastic football culture, with many of its top talents playing in Europe’s top leagues, particularly the Premier League, as well the Super Eagles regularly playing in the World Cup and competing for the Africa Cup of Nations.
“We are expecting to see some of the exciting young talented footballers that Nigeria has to offer and look forward to having the opportunity to coach them, as well as share with the participants the opportunities that our academy has already provided to young Nigerian footballers and continues to do so.”
He lauded the management of Dynaspro for their steadfastness and their genuine interest in grassroots sports development in Nigeria.
