South South workers propose N850,000,00 minimum wage

Workers in the South South geopolitical zone of the country have proposed N850,000 as their new National Minimum Wage.

The Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress, Akwa Ibom State Council, Sunny James, dropped the proposal.

James spoke on Thursday in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital, in his presentation and submission at the Zonal Public Hearing organised by the Tripartite Committee on National Minimum Wage.

President Bola Tinubu, through Vice President Kashim Shettima, inaugurated a 37-member panel on the new minimum wage in the Council Chamber of the State House in Abuja on January 30, 2024.
