The Lagos State Government on Monday reiterated commitment to foster partnership with the United States of America in order to engender more mutually beneficial opportunities.
Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu said this when the United States Consul General in Lagos, Will Stevens, paid him a visit.
Sanwo-Olu said during the visit at the Lagos House in Marina: “I’d like to appreciate the US Consulate for our mutually beneficial relationship that has continually promoted the interest of both parties.
“We need to consolidate our partnership with each other.
“There’s a lot to be done, and we as a government are ready to work together cohesively.
“Hopefully, we’ll be able to inaugurate the US Consulate building soon.
“We appreciate your belief in the Centre of Excellence.”
Earlier, Stevens said the essence of the visit was to build on the existing relationship between the United States and Lagos State.

He said: “We’ve seen a huge influx of US top officials visit Lagos in the last few months, including Secretary of State and other top government officials, just to come and see opportunities for future collaboration.
“Also, to see what’s happening in Lagos and the impact Lagos State is having in the creative technology and natural resources, and Nigeria’s greatest resources, its people.”
He said that the American Corner in Lekki was opened recently and an agreement was also signed with University of Lagos to open an American space.
The consul general said this would allow the people of Lagos to have access to education and training opportunities.
