Tinubu commends sports minister over African Games success, athletes’ build up to Paris

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, yesterday, at the Aso Rock Villa, praised Sports Minister Senator John Owan Enoh for the success of Team Nigeria at the last African Games in Accra, Ghana as well as the performance of the nation’s athletes to the Paris 2024 Olympics Games.

Owen met with Tinubu to provide a comprehensive account of his stewardship within the sports sector.

The meeting highlighted the significant achievements and ongoing initiatives aimed at fostering the growth and development of sports in Nigeria.

During the briefing, Minister Enoh outlined the successes achieved across various sporting events, including the African Cup of Nations, the African Games, and the World Relay Championships in the Bahamas. He emphasized the positive strides made by Nigerian athletes on the international stage, showcasing the nation’s prowess and determination in the world of sports.

He outlined the vision of the Ministry, to increase private investments in the industry as well as advance sports for development and development of sports.

Enoh credited the president’s bold leadership and visionary policies for the transformational changes witnessed in Nigerian sports, just as he noted that under President Tinubu’s guidance, the sports industry has undergone a significant facelift, ushering in a new era of growth and opportunity, with the Ministry of Sports now standing alone from youth development.

He used the opportunity to discuss issues concerning the upcoming Olympic Games and Paralympic Games in Paris, as well as other international tournaments on the horizon.
