22nd National Sports Festival: Bayelsa tops early medal table at Gateway Games

Bayelsa State has taken an early lead in the medals table at the ongoing 22nd National Sports Festival, tagged Gateway Games, currently holding in Ogun State.
According to the official tally as of Thursday morning, Bayelsa sits at the top of the table with 19 gold, 10 silver, and 8 bronze medals—placing it ahead of Delta State, its closest rival, which has 16 gold, 5 silver, and 9 bronze.
Rivers State follows with 6 gold, 3 silver, and 7 bronze, narrowly edging Osun State, which has also clinched 6 gold medals but with only 1 silver and no bronze.
Edo State has secured a significant number of total medals, leading in silver and bronze with 4 gold, 17 silver, and 21 bronze—the highest combined non-gold tally so far.
Lagos, Oyo, Akwa Ibom, and host state Ogun also feature on the board, with Ogun recording 3 gold, 9 silver, and 9 bronze medals.
