The Minister of Works, David Umahi, has inaugurated the newly elected executives of Sports Club of the ministry, encouraging all workers of agencies to be involved of sporting activities for their well-being.
Umahi, who performed the ceremony in Abuja, commended the outgoing executives for their dedication to duties, and expressed confidence on the ability of new executive to take Ministry’s mission to greater heights in sports.
Represented by the Minister of State, Bello Goronyo, Umahi stated that through active engagement in sporting activities within the Civil Service and the Public Service, the workforce will be strong and remain fit for the service delivery.
He emphasised the importance of sports for fitness, noting that it will foster a culture of excellence, teamwork, and improved well-being among the Ministry’s staff beyond mere recreation.
The Minister expressed delight for honouring him as the Grand Patron of the Sports Club, and promised to take care of the welfare of the members for them to perform in any competition in the civil service.
Earlier, the Director of Human Resources, Aliyu Abdullahi, applauded the management’s commitment to staff welfare, unity, and in sports development.
He encouraged members to actively participate in sporting activities for their benefit and that of the Ministry.
On his part, the National President of the Federation of Public Service Games (FEPSGA), Aluko Amoebi Aca, commended the ministry’s dedication to staff welfare, and the promotion of sports, calling for encouragement and cooperation.
At the event, prestigious awards, and gifts were presented to outstanding individuals and teams in promoting sports and community service within the Ministry.
The awardees were educated on the significance of sports in enhancing productivity and fostering national unity through the Public Service Games, Monthly Jogging and Aerobics Sessions, and other related activities.
