Weightlifting federation releases timeline for 2025 elections

As preparations intensify for the 2025 federations’ elections across the country, the Nigeria Weightlifting Federation (NWF), yesterday, released the official timeline for its electoral congress.
The federation, in a statement by its Media Officer, Amaechi Agbo, noted that the timetable outlines the process for electing new members into its executive committee.
Agbo said that candidates were open to pick up nomination forms yesterday, adding that the exercise would end on July 9.
Quoting a memo signed by the NWF Secretary-General, Melvina Apeh, the statement indicated July 20 as the date for submission of a list of aspirants by the electoral committee to the NWF board for ratification.
“Submission of lists of representatives from NAPHER, NAWIS as well as institutions will take place on Friday, August 1,” it added, noting that the federation’s electoral congress will hold on Saturday, August 9, 2025.
The Guardian recalls that the electoral congress that brought the current NWF board, led by Dr Ibrahim Abdul Aladi, was held on September 30, 2021.
