The James Hope University, Lagos State, Nigeria has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Superior University, a leading South Asian recognised institution of higher education.
The Vice Chancellor of James Hope University, Professor Austin N. Nosike, revealed the development in a statement he issued to newsmen.
In the statement, Nosike revealed that the university signed the MoU following its commitment to academic excellence and global visibility.
He said the universities, wishing to enhance relations between the two institutions and develop academic and cultural exchange opportunities, agreed to enhance internationalisation at the two institutions.
According to him: “Mutual benefit can be derived from scholarly interaction, cultural interchange, co-operative research, and other forms of academic collaboration.
“The parties regard the following areas of cooperation as desirable and feasible: Exchange of academic staff members, research scholars, and graduate students for; Exchange of students to facilitate international mobility; Cooperation on instruction, as well as scientific and technological research; Mutual, teaching materials, and other technological and scientific literature; and lecturing, advanced studies, and research.
Other benefits are: “Co-operation in training projects for specified areas of development, including the delivery of award and non-award courses; Development of short intensive and summer study abroad programs; Implementation of articulation arrangements, involving the recognition of credit for prior study: Development of dual degree and joint degree programs; and Opportunities for the development of other forms of co-operation.”
Nosike said the terms of specific areas of cooperation shall be further considered and agreed upon in writing by the parties prior to the initiation of any particular activity.
He added: “This Memorandum does not imply or commit either institution to any prescribed course of action and shall not require expenditures or other commitments of resources by either institution.
“The cooperation described above will in every case be dependent upon the availability of necessary funds and resources, and required approvals from the respective institution.
“Formal agreements between the two institutions will be executed after the parties have identified, and mutually agreed on, specific programs or initiatives for collaboration.”
This Memorandum of Understanding was signed on October 31, 2025 by Nosike and the Rector of Superior University, Prof. Dr. Sumaira Rehman.
According to the statement, the MoU shall remain in effect for a period of five years from the date of signing and it may be renewed for a further five years by the mutual agreement of both parties.
The Memorandum can be terminated at any time by either party upon provision of six months written notice to the other party
Founded 25 years ago, Superior University is a university in Lahore, Punjab, Pakistan.
It is chartered by the Government of Punjab, Pakistan and recognised by the Higher Education Commission (Pakistan) (HEC) and Pakistan Bar Council.
