Soldiers arrest Boko Haram collaborators in Borno
Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have arrested two “high-profile collaborators” of Boko Haram in Biu Local Government Area of Borno State.
According to a report by Zagazola Makama, a counter-insurgency publication focused on the Lake Chad region, the suspects were apprehended at about 5pm on March 15 at Miringa Market following credible intelligence.
Security sources identified the suspects as Dattiwa Ali and Jidda Abdullahi.
The sources said troops of the 231 Tank Battalion, working in collaboration with local hunters, carried out the operation after receiving reports that the suspects were coordinating a sleeper cell and storing arms and ammunition for terrorist groups.
“Acting on the intelligence, troops moved swiftly to the location and successfully arrested the suspects,” a source was quoted as saying.
Items recovered from them reportedly include two mobile phones, two wristwatches, and a RAM module.
The suspects, along with the recovered items, are currently in military custody for further investigation.
In a related development, troops of Operation Hadin Kai also arrested two suspected ISWAP informants in Kaga Local Government Area of the state on March 19, as security operations continue across the region.
