Troops under Operation Hadin Kai have arrested suspected collaborators linked to Boko Haram in Borno State as part of ongoing counter-insurgency operations in the North-East.
The arrests took place in Biu Local Government Area, where two individuals described as “high-profile collaborators” were apprehended at Miringa Market around 5 p.m. on March 15. The operation followed credible intelligence reports.
Security sources identified the suspects as Dattiwa Ali and Jidda Abdullahi. They were reportedly picked up by troops of the 231 Tank Battalion working alongside local hunters after intelligence indicated they were coordinating a sleeper cell and stockpiling arms and ammunition for terrorist groups.
According to sources, the troops acted swiftly on the intelligence, leading to the successful arrest of the suspects.
Items recovered from them include two mobile phones, two wristwatches, and a RAM module. The suspects are currently in military custody pending further investigation.
In a separate operation, troops also arrested two individuals suspected to be informants for ISWAP in Kaga Local Government Area on March 19, as security forces intensify efforts to curb insurgent activities across the state.
