Veteran Nollywood actress Opeyemi Aiyeola has opened up about why she distanced herself from her colleagues in the film industry after getting married.
In a recent interview with Oyinmomo TV, the actress revealed that she blocked all her Nollywood contacts for over a decade following her relocation abroad with her husband, Olayiwola Abdulwakilu.
Opeyemi described her decision as a personal sacrifice to safeguard her marriage and steer clear of the growing trend of broken celebrity homes.
“I was off the scene for more than ten years, and I apologized to my fans. I held my marriage in high esteem, so I blocked everybody’s contact in the industry. Some people will say practitioners don’t have stable homes or lives, but they don’t know what happens behind those relationships. I didn’t want mine to be like that, so I blocked everyone for 10 years,” she said.
Now a mother of two boys, Opeyemi says she is ready to focus on her career again.
“I unblocked everybody when I finally returned to focus on my career. I have two boys, and I have sacrificed everything for them. They should now allow me to also carve my own career,” she added.
