Zamfara Governor Approves Major Upgrades for 24 Hospitals and PHCs

Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, has approved billions of naira for the renovation and upgrade of nine General Hospitals and 14 Primary Healthcare Centres (PHCs) across the state. The move is part of the administration’s plan to revamp healthcare in all 14 local government areas.
The 2026 budget allocates N87 billion to the health sector, prioritizing hospital upgrades, PHC expansions, and medical equipment procurement. Major hospitals set for renovation include Talata Mafara, Gummi, Dansadau, Gusau, and Bungudu, while 14 PHCs across LGAs such as Tsafe, Gusau, Kaura Namoda, and Shinkafi will also be overhauled.
Governor Lawal presented an N861.3 billion budget for the year, later signed into law as N871.337 billion, with health, infrastructure, education, security, and agriculture as key priorities.
