Jigawa State Governor, Umar Namadi has constituted political mobilisation committees across the state aimed at strengthening the party’s unity and reconnect with the grassroots ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The committees, which will operate at the state, local government and ward levels, were announced after a meeting of top government officials, political appointees and elected representatives at the Government House, Dutse on Sunday.
Speaking after the meeting, Namadi said the initiative was aimed at keeping the party strong, active and united in every part of the state.
The committee is responsible for meeting party supporters, listen to their concerns and encourage wider participation in party activities.
He said the teams would also reach out to aggrieved members and those who had become inactive, with a view to bringing them back into the fold.
According to him, “We know the party is intact, but we need to go back to the people again, talk to them and explain what the government is doing so that people will continue to have confidence in the government,” the governor said.
Namadi noted that the committees would also help build support ahead of the 2027 elections through reconciliation, consultation and grassroots mobilisation.
Under the arrangement, the governor will chair the state committee, while the state party chairman will serve as co-chairman. Similar structures have also been created for all local governments and wards.
The committees are expected to focus on strengthening party structures, boosting voter and membership registration, identifying challenges and sustaining good relationships among members and stakeholders.
