A fresh wave of controversy has trailed the leadership tussle within the African Democratic Congress (ADC), as elder statesman David Mark is reportedly locked in a power struggle with a younger party figure, Nafiu Bala, sparking widespread debate over generational leadership in Nigerian politics.
The situation drew public attention following comments by political commentator Reno Omokri, who criticised the development as symptomatic of deeper structural issues within the party.
Omokri highlighted the wide age gap between the two figures, noting that Mark, who turns 78 on April 8, 2026, began his political journey decades before Bala was born.
