APC Revises 2027 General Elections Timetable, Schedule

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has revised its Timetable and Schedule of Activities for the 2027 general elections.

Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the APC, Hon. Durosinmi Meseko, announced this while briefing journalists at the end of the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) meeting on Thursday.

Accompanied by the party’s National Leader of People With Disabilities (PWDs), Hon. Tolu Bankole, the APC deputy spokesperson said the presidential primary election will now hold on May 23 while that of governorship is slated for May 20, 2026.

According to him, State House of Assembly primary election will also take place on May 20;
Senate primary elections, May 18 and House of Representatives primary election, May 15, 2026.

LEADERSHIP reports that APC in the Timetable and Schedule of Activities released on Monday, fixed presidential primary election between May 15 and 16; House of Representatives, May 18; Senate, May 20; State Houses of Assembly, May May 21 and Governorship, May 23, 2026.

Meseko also announced the release of schedule of activities and timetable for the 2026 ward, LGA, and state congresses in Zamfara state, beginning next week Tuesday, April 28, 2026 to May 3, 2026.

He further said the NWC adopted the mode of primary elections as provided in the Electoral Act -direct and consensus mode, with a caveat that members are at liberty to choose any.

“Aspirants are free to decide their preference in accordance with the Electoral Act. Where there is consensus and an aspirant does not agree, it automatically reverts to direct primaries.

“The direct option must be agreed to by all aspirants; if not, the consensus option reverts to direct primaries,” Meseko stated.

The deputy national publicity secretary also dismissed rumours that APC’S expression of interest and nomination forms were exclusively reserved for a few, saying the forms are open to all party members aspiring for elective positions.

“There was also a rumour that forms would be restricted or limited to certain individuals. I am here to inform all party faithfuls and aspirants that nomination forms for all aspirants seeking offices under the All Progressives Congress are open.

“Nomination forms are open for all members of the All Progressives Congress contesting elections,” he added.

On membership registration, Meseko said “all newly registered members of the APC have had their updated list transmitted to INEC. We did an earlier submission and an update has now been transmitted. We are now in full conformity with established rules.

“I also have to inform you that the All Progressives Congress is now fully ready for the upcoming primary elections.”
