A Nigerian lady has publicly criticised another woman, identified as Aunty Bukola, over what she described as an unexpected shift in a relationship that was already moving towards marriage.
She explained that she was the one who connected Bukola with a 48-year-old man living overseas, who had plans to relocate to Nigeria and start a new chapter of his life. According to her, the man had been open about his intentions from the beginning.
In her words, she said:
“Aunty Bukola living in Abeokuta, thank you so much. I introduced you to this man, a 48-year-old man based abroad who wanted to relocate back to Nigeria. He told you clearly that he was coming back and wanted to have another wife. Because of that decision, he even divorced his wife when she said she wasn’t coming back with him.”
She went on to say that Bukola had initially agreed to the relationship and expressed interest in marrying the man. However, things reportedly changed suddenly just as he was preparing to return to Nigeria.
According to her, Bukola stopped responding to the man’s calls, which raised concerns. When she reached out to find out what was going on, Bukola reportedly confided that she had reconsidered her decision.
“Since last year, you said yes to him, that you wanted to marry him too. Now the man says he’s coming back to Nigeria in the next two weeks, and suddenly you’ve stopped picking his calls. I had to call you because he complained. Then you said you wanted to confide in me, that you’ve had a change of mind and now want to travel abroad.
After everything this man has done, is that fair? At 36, you’re now saying you’ve met someone else who has promised to take you abroad.”
The situation has triggered varied reactions on social media, with many people weighing in on issues of commitment, personal choice, and how opportunities abroad can influence relationship decisions.
