Ovie Omo-Agege has announced his intention to return to the Senate, declaring his bid for the Delta Central senatorial seat ahead of the 2027 elections.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the former lawmaker said his decision to seek a third term followed “broad consultations” with family members, political leaders, and stakeholders across the eight local government areas of Delta Central.
“Driven by patriotic duty, resourceful service, and a hopeful vision for our future, I hereby declare my intention to contest the Delta Central Senatorial District seat in 2027 on the platform of the APC,” he said.
“Having sought the face of our Lord Jesus Christ in prayer, I have concluded that service to my people is a divine duty. I therefore humbly yield to their call.
“This is not a light decision. It is a response to the humbling calls by our electorate… that I return to the Senate to serve our common good.”
Omo-Agege, who previously represented Delta Central from 2015 to 2023, said his ambition is also aimed at supporting the administration of Bola Tinubu.
He stressed the need for experienced representation for the Urhobo people, noting what he described as a “clear consensus” for a capable voice at the national level.
Reflecting on his previous tenure, he described it as impactful and pledged to build on that record if elected.
“Elect me, and I will deliver legislative leadership that moves bills from sponsorship to assent. With Senate seniority, committee influence, and a national network, I pass laws, not file them,” he said.
He outlined key priorities including infrastructure development, improved healthcare and education, job creation, enhanced security, and attracting federal projects to the region.
The APC chieftain also reiterated his support for the ruling party’s economic reforms, describing them as “tough but essential”.
“Removing subsidies freed resources. Ending multiple exchange rates killed corruption, restored transparency, and boosted investor confidence,” he said.
Omo-Agege further called for unity within the party in Delta State ahead of the elections, pledging to support all candidates that emerge from the APC primaries.
“We must approach 2027 as one family,” he said, urging political actors to focus on ideas rather than conflict.
