Ekiti Man Charged Over Alleged Theft of ₦1.3 Million Petrol Conspiracy

A 49-year-old man, Saheed Rasaki, has been arraigned before a Chief Magistrate’s Court in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State, over allegations of conspiracy to steal 1,000 liters of petrol valued at ₦1.3 million. The incident reportedly occurred on March 23, 2026.

According to prosecuting attorney ASP Akinwale Oriyomi, Rasaki, along with other suspects still at large, unlawfully conspired to convert the fuel belonging to Oso Babatunde for personal use. The offence is considered a breach of public peace under the Criminal Laws of Ekiti State, 2021.

During the court proceedings, the defendant’s counsel, Barrister O.G. Abiola, requested bail, assuring the court that Rasaki would not abscond. The Chief Magistrate, Mr. Abayomi Adeosun, granted bail in the amount of ₦150,000 with two sureties.

The case was adjourned until April 23 for further hearing. The police continue efforts to apprehend Rasaki’s accomplices at large.
