Ex-Kano governor, Shekarau dumps PDP, joins APC

Ibrahim Shekarau, a former governor of Kano State, has resigned his membership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and joined the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Shekarau announced his defection to the APC on Sunday at his residence in Kano.
He served as governor of Kano State from 2003 to 2011 under the now-defunct All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP).
In 2014, he joined the PDP after the ANPP merged with other parties to form the APC.
In 2018, the former governor left the PDP to return to the APC.
However, in May 2022, Shekarau exited the APC for the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) following a prolonged leadership dispute with Abdullahi Ganduje.
By August 2022, he had again switched parties, leaving the NNPP to rejoin the PDP.
