The Federal Government has approved the reconstruction of the Ado–Iyin–Aramoko–Itawure road, a 56.18-kilometre stretch seen as critical to connectivity in Ekiti State and the wider Southwest region.
The contract has been awarded to CBC Global Civil & Building Construction Nigeria Limited, with a completion timeline of 24 months beginning March 23, 2026.
The State Commissioner for Information, Taiwo Olatunbosun, disclosed this in a statement issued in Ado-Ekiti. He explained that the road project will span 56.18 kilometres, starting from Fajuyi Park in Ado-Ekiti and extending to the Osun State boundary.
The reconstruction will be done using reinforced concrete, beginning from the Police Headquarters through to the state border.
Olatunbosun noted that the project has moved beyond planning, as the site has already been handed over to the contractor. Construction activities have commenced around the Erio-Ekiti axis, signaling the Federal Government’s commitment to timely delivery.
He described the project as a major boost to socio-economic development, stressing that the road serves as a vital corridor linking communities and facilitating movement across key parts of the region. According to him, its completion will significantly ease transportation challenges, improve mobility, and unlock new opportunities for trade and commerce.
“This project goes beyond road construction; it is about improving lives, strengthening economic ties, and enhancing regional integration. We appreciate the Federal Government for this intervention and assure the Ministry of Works of our full support,” he said.
The Commissioner also reaffirmed the commitment of Governor Biodun Oyebanji to development-driven initiatives, noting that the project is one of the outcomes of his sustained engagements with federal authorities.
He further commended Bola Tinubu for delivering 6 promises to the people of Ekiti State.
Residents, motorists, and stakeholders have been urged to cooperate with the contractor and relevant authorities, particularly in managing traffic flow and observing safety measures throughout the construction period.
