Journalist Receives iPhone 16 Gift From Employers For Outstanding Performance

Chika Mefor-Nwachukwu, an Abuja-based journalist with an online newspaper, The Whistler, has expressed gratitude after being rewarded with a new iPhone 16 for surpassing her first-quarter performance benchmark in 2026.
Mefor-Nwachukwu made this known in a post shared on her verified Facebook page, where she recounted how the surprise recognition unfolded at her workplace on Monday.
According to her, the unexpected gesture marked a significant milestone in her career, as she had never received such appreciation from previous employers.
“My office, The Whistler, surprised me yesterday with a brand new iPhone 16 for exceeding the benchmark for the 1st quarter of the year 2026,” she wrote.
She explained that she arrived at the office unaware of the surprise awaiting her.
“The best part of the gist is that I arrived at the office yesterday not knowing that a huge surprise awaited me. I was dumbfounded when I was informed that a little package had been prepared for me to be handed to me by my editor,” she added.
The journalist said her excitement grew when she discovered the value of the gift.
“When it turned out that it was an iPhone worth over ₦1 million, I was beyond elated,” she said.
Mefor-Nwachukwu went on to appreciate key members of the media organisation’s leadership for their support and recognition.
“I lack words to express how I feel about this development, but in all, I am super grateful to my Chairman, Chief James Ume Junior James, for considering me worthy of such honour and benevolence,” she stated.
