Kashim: I Chose Humanity Over Luxury In Kogi Senate Bid

The chairman of Idris HK Foundation, Idris Husseini Kashim, has formally declared his intention to contest the Kogi East senatorial seat in the 2027 general elections.
He said his decision is rooted in a lifelong commitment to humanity over personal luxury.
Kashim stated this during his declaration at the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)Secretariat in Kogi State, yesterday.
He said, “I chose humanity over luxury, and I will deliberately channel my resources into community development rather than an extravagant lifestyle.”
He pointed to interventions spanning the provision of transformers, solar lights, boreholes, road rehabilitation, scholarships and medical support for vulnerable residents across Kogi East.
“Driven by patriotic duty, resourceful service, and a hopeful vision for our future, I hereby declare my intention to contest the Kogi East Senatorial District seat in 2027.”
He explained that the decision followed extensive consultations with stakeholders across the nine local government areas, describing it as a response to the “humbling calls by our electorate, students, professionals and the many lives we have touched.
“This decision is not about personal ambition. It is about elevating Kogi East to a place of respect, influence, and tangible action.”
Kashim further stressed the need for active and impactful representation, noting that “Kogi East cannot afford silence” and that the district deserves “an energetic, smart, modern and compassionate voice.”
He also outlined his legislative vision, promising to pursue laws that would drive development and improve livelihoods. “Elect me, and I will deliver legislative leadership that moves bills from sponsorship to assent,” he said,
Kashim added that his focus would include education, infrastructure, job creation and security. He assured constituents that “our representation will translate into real, verifiable employment and the rise of a new generation of captains of industry.”
