Troops of Sector 8, Operation Enduring Peace (OPEP), have intercepted about 150 cattle grazing in a restricted area in Plateau State.
This was contained in a post shared on X on Wednesday by security analyst, Zagazola Makama.
According to the post, the incident happened on April 28 at about 3:30 p.m. in Dumwell village, Mangu Local Government Area of the state.
It explained that the troops, while on routine patrol around Sabon Gari, discovered the cattle grazing in a prohibited zone and immediately took action.
The cattle were reportedly moved to a secured military location for further investigation and necessary steps.
According to Makama, security sources also said leaders of the Fulani community in the area were invited to help identify the owners of the livestock and ensure compliance with grazing rules.
The troops have continued confidence-building patrols in the area to prevent further violations and maintain peace between farming and pastoral communities.
