A public affairs analyst, Babandi Shehu, has revealed that Ali Ndume is preparing to return to the National Assembly for a fifth term as senator representing Borno South Senatorial District in 2027.

Shehu made this known in a statement issued on Sunday, noting that political momentum is already building within the district ahead of the All Progressives Congress (APC) primaries scheduled for May.
According to him, a growing number of young people across the nine local government areas in Southern Borno are mobilising support to secure the party’s nomination ticket for Ndume.

He described Ndume as more than just a legislator, portraying him as a national figure with a reputation for outspoken advocacy and legislative independence. Shehu argued that at a critical point in Nigeria’s political development, figures like Ndume are essential in ensuring accountability within government.
“Ndume is not just a senator; he is a nationalist,” Shehu said. “At this stage of its political history, Nigeria needs senators like Ndume who fearlessly check the excesses of the executive and speak truth to power, regardless of whose interests are affected.”
Ndume, currently serving his fourth term in the Senate, has been known for his critical stance on certain policies of President Bola Tinubu.
