Ogun PDP chieftain declares for Senate

An Ogun State chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, Giwa Odulana, popularly known as Ajirotutu, has declared his intention to contest the 2027 Ogun East Senatorial seat.

Odulana made the declaration on Wednesday during a stakeholders’ meeting at the PDP Ward 3 Secretariat in Itantebo, Ijebu-Ode.

He said his decision to join the senatorial race was informed by the need to improve the living conditions of the people of Ogun East through effective lawmaking.

He described himself as young, vibrant, and capable of bringing about the much-needed generational shift in leadership to advance socio-economic development across the nine local government areas in the senatorial district.

Odulana said, “I have come here today to say that I will be running for the Ogun East Senatorial seat in 2027. There are definitely lapses in governance in the senatorial district, whether in education, health, job creation for our youth, and good roads, among other areas, begging for attention.

“Definitely, the All Progressives Congress has been quite disappointing, and this cannot continue in 2027. It is time to give the youth the opportunity to go out there and do things differently so that everyone will know that things are truly changing.

“If I get the needed support and you send me to the Senate in 2027, we shall not leave anyone behind. It is going to be inclusive governance that places the welfare of the people, empowerment of women and youth, and infrastructural development above parochial interests.”

He maintained that his ambition is driven by a desire to reposition the senatorial district and deliver meaningful development across the nine local government areas in Ogun East.

Odulana explained that his background in engineering and estate development has equipped him with the expertise required to drive infrastructure development in the region, promising to prioritise education and youth empowerment if elected.

Speaking at the event, the PDP State Vice Chairman, Otunba Ayinde Awobadejo, welcomed Odulana to the party and assured him of a fair and transparent process.

Awobadejo described the opposition party as the only hope Nigerians have to push back against the hardship imposed by the APC-led government, urging members to continue mobilising for victory in the 2027 elections.
