Olubadan Inaugurates Ibadan Community Guard to Boost Local Security

The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, on Tuesday officially inaugurated the Ibadan Community Guard, a grassroots security initiative aimed at strengthening safety and improving rapid response across the ancient city.
The newly launched outfit is designed to work closely with established security agencies, enhancing intelligence gathering and ensuring more effective and timely policing within communities. Speaking at the inauguration, Oba Ladoja emphasized the importance of community participation in safeguarding lives and property, noting that security is a collective responsibility.
He explained that the Ibadan Community Guard would serve as a support system to conventional law enforcement, particularly in addressing local security concerns, monitoring suspicious activities, and fostering trust between residents and security operatives.
The initiative is expected to complement the efforts of agencies such as the Nigeria Police Force and other security bodies, while promoting vigilance and unity among residents of Ibadan.
Stakeholders at the event commended the move, describing it as a proactive step toward curbing crime and ensuring a safer environment for all inhabitants of Ibadanland.
