Russia’s Foreign Ministry has raised doubts about the Board of Peace announced by US President Donald Trump regarding Gaza, saying the initiative raises many questions.
Kirill Logvinov, head of the ministry’s Department for International Organisations, said there were growing questions over the aims of the board, according to Novosti, a Russian state-owned news agency.
He said recent developments in the Middle East “raise further questions about the real goals and tasks of the Board of Peace, as well as how it will operate, even among countries that have formally joined it”.
Logvinov added that “many delegations have preferred observer status” within the board.

He also pointed out that Israel continues military operations in the Gaza Strip while significantly restricting humanitarian aid access. In the occupied West Bank, settlement expansion is continuing at a record pace, and violence and extremism by settlers have reached an unprecedented level.
He further said that despite the period of important religious holidays, including the end of Ramadan and Easter, the status of holy sites in Jerusalem is being violated, and access to them is being restricted.
Logvinov warned that Lebanon, according to the UN Secretary-General, is at risk of facing a similar fate to Gaza.
He added that tensions in southern Syria are not easing, including in Sweida and the Golan.
