According to her, her mother declined to come for omugwo, a traditional postpartum care practice common in Igbo culture, after she gave birth to her first child. She alleged that the decision was influenced by her husband’s financial situation compared to that of her sister’s husband.

“I called my mother and she refused to come to my house for Omugwo just because my husband is not as rich as my sister’s husband…”

She further claimed that her mother chose to stay with her sister, where she felt more comfortable.

“My mother told me that she’s not ready to come and do Omugwo when my sister’s husband has a place where she can relax and enjoy AC…”

Left without her mother’s support, the woman said she relied on her husband’s sister for help after childbirth.

She also revealed that shortly after delivery, her husband lost his job, plunging the family into financial hardship.

“When I called my sister to tell her I have given birth, I cried because my mother didn’t even call me… Then few months after giving birth, my husband lost his job… we were suffering…”

Years later, after six years of little to no contact, the woman said her mother recently reached out upon hearing about her second pregnancy, offering to come for omugwo.

However, she declined the offer.

“Now my husband is doing well and owns a duplex… Now my mother is calling me after six years saying she heard I am pregnant and wants to come for Omugwo, but I told her I don’t need her. I told her to go to my sister’s house…”
