TRAGEDY IN EKITI: Father Demands Justice After Truck Crash Kills FUOYE Student, Destroys Family Home

A grieving father in Aramoko-Ekiti, Mr. Rufus Farotimi, has cried out for justice following a devastating truck accident that claimed the life of his 21-year-old son and left his family homeless.
The tragic incident occurred on March 26, when a heavy-duty truck reportedly lost control and rammed into the family’s residence.

The impact killed Promise Farotimi, a 300-level student of Federal University Oye-Ekiti, who was asleep at the time. He was crushed in the wreckage, abruptly ending a young life full of promise.
Speaking through deep pain, Mr. Farotimi described the incident as a double tragedy — the loss of his son and the complete destruction of his home. He lamented that everything he owned was wiped out within moments, leaving the family devastated and displaced.

According to reports, the truck driver fled the scene immediately after the crash. However, his assistant was apprehended, and documents recovered at the scene identified the driver as Shuaibu Yusuf. The bereaved father is now calling on security agencies to track down and arrest the suspect, insisting that justice must be served.

He also urged the company linked to the truck to take full responsibility, stressing that the burden of the tragedy should not rest solely on his grieving family.

The incident has sparked outrage among residents and community leaders in Ekiti State, many of whom blamed reckless driving and poor road conditions. They have called on authorities to enforce stricter safety measures to prevent similar tragedies.
Police authorities have confirmed that an investigation is ongoing, with efforts underway to uncover the full circumstances surrounding the crash and ensure those responsible are held accountable.

As the Farotimi family mourns their painful loss, the tragedy stands as a stark reminder of the deadly consequences of negligence on Nigeria’s roads. For Mr. Farotimi, however, the demand remains unwavering — justice for his son and accountability for those responsible.
