Two suspects in police net over alleged murder in Akwa Ibom

Two suspects identified as Idem Etim, male, and Namkere Ikoboatang, female, are cooling their heels in the custody of the Akwa Ibom State Police Command in connection with the murder of one Okon, aged 27, of Iko Udo Obobo Village in Ukanafun Local Government Area of the state.

The Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Timfon John, disclosed this in a statement in Uyo on Sunday.

John said the victim was found burnt beyond recognition inside a room, under circumstances strongly suggesting a deliberate and violent act.

She said the operatives of the Command, acting on credible intelligence, swiftly mobilized to the scene where the victim was found burnt dead. The area was immediately cordoned off, and a full-scale investigation was launched.

“Through sustained intelligence-led operations and meticulous investigative efforts, two suspects have been arrested in connection with this heinous crime.

“The suspects are currently in custody and are providing useful information to aid ongoing investigations,” the statement said.

The statement added that the Commissioner of Police, CP Baba Mohammed Azare, has ordered a comprehensive investigation to ensure that all persons involved are identified, apprehended, and brought to justice without delay.
