2026 Children’s Day: FG Committed To Empowering Every Child Through Inclusive, Quality Education – Alausa

Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa, has restated the resolve of the Federal Government in nurturing, protecting, and empowering every child through inclusive and quality education.

Alausa said this on Wednesday as part of activities commemorating the 2026 Children’s Day.

This year’s commemoration saw the Minister hosting young disability advocate and actress, Dera Osadebe, at the Federal Ministry of Education Headquarters in Abuja.

Alausa also brought together children from different schools and backgrounds across Nigeria in a symbolic engagement aimed at amplifying the voices of Nigerian children and strengthening national commitment to inclusive education and child development.

Speaking at the event, Alausa described Children’s Day as a reminder of the nation’s shared responsibility to safeguard the future of every Nigerian child through sustained investment in education, wellbeing, and opportunity.

“Today is about celebrating the strength, creativity, and limitless potential of our children. Every Nigerian child deserves to feel seen, heard, encouraged, and supported to achieve their dreams regardless of background or circumstance,” he said.

He lauded Dera Osadebe for her advocacy and growing efforts in promoting awareness, compassion, and inclusion for children living with disabilities and autism across Nigeria.

“Dera’s courage and passion reflect the resilience and brilliance that exist in millions of Nigerian children. Her voice continues to inspire important conversations around inclusion, empathy, and equal opportunity for every child,” he added.

Alausa noted that the Children’s Day celebration reflects the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu, which prioritises child development, inclusive education, youth empowerment, and expanded access to quality learning opportunities across the country.

He enjoined Nigerian children to continue believing in themselves, developing their talents, and contributing positively to society, while assuring them of government’s continued support in creating enabling environments for learning and growth.

“Children are at the heart of our nation’s future, and we must continue to create opportunities that allow them to learn, grow, and succeed,” he stated.

He said the Ministry of Education Under his supervision remains committed to protecting the rights and wellbeing of every Nigerian child and advancing policies and programmes that promote inclusive education, safe learning environments, equal opportunities, and a brighter and more hopeful future for all children across the country.
