Senator Elisha Abbo, who represented Adamawa North Senatorial District in the 9th Senate, has emerged as the Labour Party’s governorship candidate for Adamawa State ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Abbo’s emergence as the Labour Party flag bearer in Adamawa State followed his official clearance by the national leadership of the party on Saturday after a screening exercise and his subsequent endorsement as the consensus candidate.
The development comes barely one week after he was screened at the party’s national headquarters in Abuja.
With the ticket secured, Abbo is expected to face the candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress, Ahmed Galadima, as well as Aishatu Binani of the Nigeria Democratic Congress in what is shaping up to be a keenly contested governorship race.
Speaking after securing the party ticket, Abbo reaffirmed his commitment to providing purposeful leadership, economic revitalization, youth empowerment, and improved infrastructure across Adamawa State.
He emphasized the need for inclusive governance that prioritizes citizens’ welfare, job creation, education, healthcare, and security.
