2027: Ugochinyere Emerges Unopposed As APP Consensus CandidatIncumbent member representing Ideato North and South Federal Constituency of Imo State, Hon. Ikenga Imo Ugochinyere, has emerged as the unopposed consensus candidate of the Action People’s Party (APP) for the 2027 House of Representatives election.
The primary election, held at the party’s Orie Akokwa office which served as the official collation centre, witnessed overwhelming support for the lawmaker as he secured a 100 per cent affirmation vote from all statutory delegates drawn from Ideato North and Ideato South Local Government Areas.
Ugochinyere’s emergence followed what party stakeholders described as a broad-based endorsement by grassroots leaders, party faithful, and delegates across the constituency.
The exercise was conducted peacefully and without any form of rancour, as hundreds of delegates gathered to ratify the candidacy of the federal lawmaker in what observers described as a smooth and orderly process.
Officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) monitored the exercise from commencement to conclusion.
Among the electoral officials present were the Electoral Officer for Ideato North, Tony Onwuasoanya, and his Ideato South counterpart, Mrs. Wendy, who supervised the proceedings and subsequently endorsed the outcome of the primary election.
The INEC officials confirmed that the exercise complied fully with the provisions of the Electoral Act and other relevant electoral guidelines.
They also commended members of the party for maintaining peace, orderliness, and decorum throughout the process.
Party leaders and delegates at the venue described Ugochinyere’s emergence as a reflection of confidence in his representation and leadership within the constituency.
The lawmaker, who currently represents the constituency in the House of Representatives, is expected to fly the APP flag in the 2027 general election as the party intensifies preparations ahead of the polls.
