Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has said his decision to endorse President Bola Tinubu for a second term in 2027 is based on what he described as moral considerations and the need to support ongoing development across the South-West.
According to a statement issued on Monday by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, the governor made the remarks on Sunday after inspecting the ongoing reconstruction of the Ibadan–Ile-Ife–Ilesa Expressway.
Adeleke said the endorsement went beyond party politics and reflected what he described as the broader interest of Osun State and the Yoruba nation.
“The endorsement transcends party affiliation and reflects the collective interest of Osun people and the Yoruba nation,” he said.
He further described President Tinubu as “our own son, father and leader”, adding that his support for the president’s re-election was not influenced by persuasion or political pressure.

“I required no persuasion before publicly declaring support for the President’s re-election bid. I am the governor of the ancestral birthplace of Mr President. How can I have my own in the saddle and think twice before embracing him?” he stated.
The governor also remarked that Osun State was fortunate to have a citizen of the state occupying the presidency, adding in a light-hearted comment that Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu might also consider himself equally privileged.
Adeleke praised the pace and quality of work on the expressway project, saying the rehabilitation would significantly improve transportation links and stimulate economic activities across major towns in Osun State.
“I am elated at the speed and quality of work. The reconstruction will further widen and ease access to major centres of Osun State and complement my administration’s accelerated infrastructure deliveries across towns and villages,” he said.
He also noted that his administration had rehabilitated several federal roads since taking office in 2022, alongside the reconstruction of more than 300 kilometres of state roads across Osun State.
The governor appealed to the Federal Government to reimburse the state for federal roads it had already rehabilitated, while commending the approval of major road projects such as the Ibadan–Iwo–Osogbo and Gbongan–Akoda roads.
He further revealed plans to seek federal approval for the reconstruction of the Osogbo–Ilesa Road, stating that additional intervention from the central government would accelerate infrastructure development in the state.
Beyond infrastructure, Adeleke also reaffirmed his commitment to electoral integrity, insisting that his administration would ensure free and fair elections in the upcoming Osun governorship poll scheduled for August 15, as well as future elections in the state.
