Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar on Wednesday joined Muslim faithful at the AYA Mosque in Abuja to observe Eid prayers in celebration of Eid El-Adha.
Atiku, who disclosed this in a post shared on his verified 𝕏 handle, said the prayers were offered in gratitude to Allah for His blessings.
He wrote, “I joined fellow Muslims this morning at the AYA Mosque in Abuja to observe the Eid prayers in gratitude to Allah for His countless blessings.”
Naijaonpoint reports that the former presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) also used the occasion to call for unity, compassion, sacrifice and peace among Nigerians.
“As we celebrate this sacred occasion, may the spirit of Eid strengthen our bonds of unity, compassion, sacrifice, and peace as one people and one nation,” Atiku stated.
Atiku further extended Eid greetings to Muslim faithful in Nigeria and other parts of the world, praying for lasting peace and prosperity in the country.
He added, “Eid Mubarak to all Muslim faithful across Nigeria and around the world. May Allah accept our prayers and grant lasting peace and prosperity to our nation.”
The former vice president’s message came as Muslims across the country gathered in mosques and prayer grounds to mark the sacred celebration.
Meanwhile, President Bola Tinubu also joined Muslim faithful to observe Eid prayers at Dodan Barracks in Lagos State.
The President was accompanied by several government officials and political leaders, including his Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila; the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu; former Lagos State Governor, Babatunde Fashola; Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa; and Lagos State Deputy Governor, Obafemi Hamzat.
Special Assistant to the President on Social Media, Dada Olusegun, disclosed this in a post on his X handle on Wednesday.
He wrote, “President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, alongside former Governor of Lagos State Babatunde Raji Fashola, the Lagos APC governorship candidate, and other Muslim faithful, observed the Eid Mubarak prayers at Dodan Barracks in Lagos State.”
The Eid prayers formed part of activities marking the celebration, with leaders urging Nigerians to embrace peace, sacrifice and national unity.
