Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to the “Rivers First” principle, describing it as the driving force behind the policies, decisions and developmental projects executed by his government over the past three years.
The governor made this known in a message released to commemorate the third anniversary of his administration, stressing that the welfare and prosperity of Rivers people have remained central to every action taken since he assumed office.
According to a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Onwuka Nzeshi, the state government’s massive investment in infrastructure, particularly road construction, was aimed at improving connectivity between rural and urban communities while also stimulating economic growth across the state.
Governor Fubara highlighted several landmark projects undertaken by his administration, including the Port Harcourt Ring Road, the Trans-Kalabari Highway, the Elele/Umudioga/Egbeda/Ubimini/Ikiri/Omoku Road and the Ngo-Atlantic/Oyorokoto Road. He explained that these projects were initiated to open up previously inaccessible areas, attract investors and accelerate development in Rivers State.
Governor Fubara expressed appreciation to the people of Rivers State for the confidence and trust they have placed in his leadership. He assured residents that his administration would continue to utilise public resources responsibly and transparently for the benefit of all citizens.
Fubara attributed the achievements recorded within the past three years to the resilience, cooperation and industrious spirit of the people of the state.
“What we have achieved in three years is proof that when government and citizens pull in the same direction, progress is possible,” the governor stated.
“As we mark this anniversary, I renew my commitment to you: to lead with transparency, listen more than I speak and ensure that every project, every policy and every naira spent reflects your interest,” he added.
While acknowledging the progress made so far,Governor Fubara admitted that much more still needs to be done to fully realise the state’s developmental aspirations. He therefore called on all segments of society, including elders, youths, women, traders, teachers, artisans, farmers and professionals, to continue supporting efforts aimed at advancing the growth and development of Rivers State.
Governor Fubara also used the occasion to congratulate Rivers residents and Nigerians generally as the nation marks 27 consecutive years of democratic governance. He described the milestone as the longest uninterrupted civilian administration since Nigeria attained independence.
According to him, Nigeria’s sustained democratic journey demonstrates that despite ethnic, political and cultural differences, citizens can continue to coexist peacefully and work collectively towards national progress and unity.
