HOW I OVERCAME: I Sacrificed To Build A Better Life – Den-Lami

BY KARIMATU MUSA, Abuja
Atogbe Ayuba Den-Lami’s journey is a story of perseverance, sacrifice and determination. Beginning as a driver transporting sand and farm produce, he faced years of hardship but refused to surrender to life’s challenges.
In 2013, determined to improve himself, he returned to school to study Computer Science at the Federal Polytechnic, Bida in Niger State. He graduated in 2016, balancing education with the struggle to survive through driving jobs and supply businesses.
Life after school was far from easy. Den-Lami moved from one job to another, including supplying soft drinks and working as a private driver. Some jobs exposed him to financial losses and uncertainty, while others tested his patience and endurance.
His greatest challenge came when he wanted to marry the woman he loved. Without enough money for the bride price, he borrowed funds to make the marriage possible. Through the difficult times, his wife remained supportive, standing beside him even when survival depended on little more than hope.
A major breakthrough came when he secured the job of a diesel truck driver. The opportunity changed his life, allowing him to save money, buy land and eventually build his own house. Today, he says, “I own houses and dream of becoming a successful entrepreneur in the diesel supply business.”
Despite setbacks, including job losses and betrayal by colleagues, Ayuba continued moving forward with faith and resilience.
His advice to young people is clear: Never give up, remain humble and trust God through every stage of life.”
