Governor Agbu Kefas of Taraba State has called on Islamic religious leaders in the state to remain vigilant and guard against actions capable of threatening peace and stability in their communities.
The governor made the appeal on Thursday while receiving the leadership of the Muslim Council of Nigeria, Wukari chapter, during a Sallah homage visit at the TY Danjuma House in Wukari.
Kefas expressed satisfaction with the peaceful celebration of the Sallah festival across the state and reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to promoting peace, unity and harmonious coexistence among residents, irrespective of ethnic or religious differences.
He stressed that past conflicts in the area should be treated as bygone issues and should not be allowed to recur.
The governor also highlighted some of the achievements of his administration in key sectors, including education, security, healthcare, infrastructure, agriculture, as well as the payment of pensions and gratuities.
He assured the people of Taraba State that his administration would continue to deliver the dividends of democracy to all parts of the state.
Earlier, the leader of the Muslim delegation said they were at the TY Danjuma House to pay Sallah homage to the governor and appreciate him for his developmental strides across the state.
