Kwara North Monarchs, Leaders Welcome Salihu’s Emergence As APC Guber Candidate

The Kwara North Traditional Rulers Council and community leaders have welcomed the emergence of Engr. Yakubu Salihu as the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara State.

Salihu emerged as the APC candidate during the party’s governorship primary election held on Friday ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The development is seen as significant in Kwara North, where political stakeholders have for years advocated power rotation to the district.

In a statement issued on behalf of the traditional rulers, the Etsu Patigi, Alhaji Ibrahim Umar Bologi II, described the outcome of the primary election as a notable political development for Kwara North.

The monarch said the decision by the party leadership to support the district’s aspiration reflected efforts toward inclusiveness and political balance in the state.

He also acknowledged the role played by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq and APC stakeholders in the process that produced the candidate.

Bologi added that the traditional institution would continue to support peace, unity and democratic governance in the state.

Similarly, elders and leaders from Kwara North, in a statement signed by former Minister of Sports, Hon. Isa Bio Ibrahim, described Salihu’s emergence as a reflection of the growing political relevance of the district within the APC.

The leaders also commended the conduct of the primary election and pledged support for the APC ahead of the 2027 elections.
