Okpebholo removes Suleiman Aledeh as EBS MD, appoints Alenkhe as acting boss

Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo has removed Mr Suleiman Aledeh from the position of Managing Director of the State-owned media broadcasting outfit, the Edo Broadcasting Service, EBS.

DAILY POST reports that the governor replaced him with Mr Festus Alenkhe, the State Chairman of the Edo State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, as the Acting Managing Director.

A statement by the Secretary to the State Government, Mr Umar Musa Ikhilor, said the former managing director has been redeployed to the  State Orientation Agency as the pioneer Director General.

Ikhilor said the redeployment is with immediate effect while Alenkhe will be acting pending the deployment of a substantive Managing Director.

He added that the decision formed part of the governor’s ongoing administrative adjustments designed to optimise resource management and strengthen institutional capacity across critical sectors of the state’s administration

According to the SSG, “The Edo State government wishes to inform the general public that the State Governor, His Excellency, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has approved the redeployment of the Managing Director of the Edo Broadcasting Service (EBS), Mr Suleiman Aladeh to the Edo State Orientation Agency, where he will serve as pioneer Director General with immediate effect

“In his stead, Mr Festus Alenkhe is hereby appointed Acting Managing Director of the Edo Broadcasting Service to oversee the operations of the station pending the deployment of a substantive Managing Director.

“The governor’s decision forms part of ongoing administrative adjustments designed to optimise resource management and strengthen institutional capacity across critical sectors of the state’s administration.

“The redeployment reflects the government’s recognition of Mr Aledeh’s professional expertise and capacity to advance the mandate of the Orientation Agency—an institution critical to civic engagement, values promotion, and public communication strategy across Edo State.

“During his tenure at EBS, Mr Aledeh demonstrated considerable dedication to public service broadcasting and institutional development. The state government commends him for his outstanding contributions to the broadcasting sector and wishes him continued success in his new assignment.

“Mr Alenkhe’s appointment as Acting Managing Director underscores Governor Okpebholo’s commitment to seamless operational continuity at the Edo Broadcasting Service.

“He is expected to maintain the high standards of service delivery and professional broadcasting standards that define the station’s reputation,” he said.
