The Labour Party has said the administration of Alex Otti has transformed Abia State after decades of poor governance and underdevelopment.
In a statement issued by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Ken Eluma Asogwa, the party described Otti’s emergence in 2023 as a major turning point for the state, which it said had long suffered from political mismanagement and neglect.
The party stated that the governor’s three years in office have brought visible changes across key sectors, including road infrastructure, education, healthcare, public finance, and the civil service.
According to Asogwa, Otti’s administration has demonstrated that responsible and transparent leadership can deliver meaningful development and restore public confidence in government.
He noted that several independent assessments and ratings have reportedly ranked the governor among the country’s top-performing state executives due to improvements recorded in infrastructure renewal, economic management, and service delivery.
“Otti’s reforms have continued despite resistance from entrenched political interests who benefited from the old order. Yet, the administration has remained committed to policies that directly impact the lives of ordinary people,” he said.
The party further argued that the governor’s performance reflects the core principles of the Labour Party, which it said prioritizes competence, accountability, and the welfare of citizens above political patronage.
It expressed optimism that residents of Abia State would sustain the ongoing reforms by supporting the governor for a second term during the 2027 general elections.
The party also congratulated Otti on his third anniversary in office and reaffirmed its commitment to supporting efforts aimed at rebuilding the state and strengthening good governance.
